Dave Metty

Dave Metty migrated from Michigan to San Francisco during the summer of '91. His first job in California was a camp counselor at the Visalia Skate Camp. It was there that he met Jim Thiebaud. Jim was pro for Real skateboards and decided to flow Dave boards because of his exceptional ramp skills. During that same year Dave started filming various pro's which led to his full time position at Real as the filmer/team manager. In 1994 Dave left his position @ Real and took a summer job @ the Visalia Skate Camp as the program director. It was there that he re-learned the grass roots passion for skating. Beginners love skating so much, that's all that matters to them. This attitude spurred Dave back into filming. The idea of capturing the dedication and perseverance on film motivated Dave to produce a camp video for the campers so they could relive their summer experience for years to come. In '98, Dave's long time friend Salman Agah arranged for Dave to start judging for World Cup Skateboarding. Dave now directs the Visalia skate camp during the summers, films skating during the year and judges pro contests in between. In his own words "I'm enjoying the journey, fulfilling a dream of a childhood and looking ahead".
