Danny De L'age
Dan, Dan, Dan,
Circa 1987
I've known Dan for quite awhile, now. Once upon a time, there was a long haired freak grinding a curb, in front of a church. I stopped my friends, as we were passing by and said to them "look at him, let's roll him and take his money!". As we approached this gangly looking guy, with matted long hair, we noticed something. He was styling quite nicely, pulling kickflip wheelies across a stretch of sidewalk. We decided not to shave his head and ask for pointers instead. Since then, Dan has, not only shown me how to skate (back when I used to. I can't anymore since I got too fat!!) but been a good all around buddy! What did you expect, we're Canadian after all.
Now, on with the accolades!!!!
Been skating for approximately 14 years. In those years, helped find what is now the Montreal skate scene. Well, not by himself, always with a little help from friends (you know who you are). As everyone knows, with hardcore skating come injuries (knee surgery, dislocated the other twice, busted arm, two broken ankles, compound fracture of the tibia and fibula......the list goes on), have slowed him down a tad. He has spent the last ten years in the industry at various levels. Starting out as a shop kid, moving to managing the biggest shop in Montreal. Then he moved on to Rewind Clothing (RIP). Now, recently he has been working at Ezekiel Clothing as head of the Canadian division. This is current position in life.
Locally, he has been active in Ramp Rage, in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver and Quebec City, where he helped organized, prepare and judge these events. He has also worked with WCS as well as ESPN as a judge in Europe, Canada & the US. Dan said to mention thanks to the Bosticks and all the friends and acquaintances he has met through his years in the scene.
Cheers "big John"
