Jason Rothmeyer

Jason Rothmeyer, one of the true pioneers of "technical skateboarding" was born in 1972 and has lived in Long Beach, California all of his life. Jason started skating in 1986 and was influenced and inspired by other local amateur skaters like Ed Templeton, Jason Lee and Ray Barbee.

Jason was sponsored in 1990 after meeting Spencer Fujimoto at Visalia Skatecamp and sending a video to Santa Cruz Skateboards.

He turned Pro in 1992 after winning the CASL State Championships in the 16 and over division. He placed 10th in his first pro contest in Venice, CA and went on to shock the skateboard industry by winning the NSA Finals in Encinitias that same year with his technical brand of skateboarding. Other contest highlights include 2nd place at Slam City Jam in 1994 and an invite to skate in the first ever X-Games in 1995.

As a pro, Jason continued to be active in the amateur skate scene and in his community by helping friends like Rob Gonzales, Danny Montoya and Brad Hayes find sponsors as well as attending and judging CASL contests.

Today Jason still gives his time to the young skaters coming up by annually attending Woodward Skate Camp and by just being there for the younger skaters in Long Beach.

His video highlights include a profile in 411 #2, Santa Cruz videos: BPSW, Hai Karate, SCSVM and Home Movie as well as Foundation Cocktails.

Jason was the team manager for the now defunct Nation Skateboards as well as for Airwalk Shoes. He currently works for Accel Wheels and continues to contribute to the skateboard community.
