Schedule | Masters Bowl | Young Guns Bowl | Womens Bowl | Info

Story by David Robarge

Sunday June 10th

The sun came out today and the skating was hot. Women started off the day in the Soul Bowl and the 4 ladies tore it up in a jam format. Carabeth Burnside dominated the jam pulling everything she tried while Jodie MacDonald put up a good fight to finish second with Jen O'Brien and Holly Lyons taking third and forth.

Later in the day the "Young Guns" took the bowl and competed in slightly different format with 3 times runs but with option to keep skating after time until they fell, similar to a Jam format. Rune Glifberg won yet again but close behind was Jake Brown who was on fire! Omar Hassan stepped it up again taking third place, adding to his weekend's pay check.

Best trick sounded great, I missed it though so I can only list what was done. Jake Brown pulled a frontside 540 in one of the corners for third place, Brian Patch did his second ever 720 to take second and rookie pro Mizael Simao took best trick with a blindside, frontside kickflip nose slide up the extension!

Saturday June 9th

The Contour Park held the best trick contest today with 8 skaters competing on 3 "obstacles". The Jump box was first followed by the vert wall and finally the super long rail. Things got pretty exciting by the time the guys hit the rail and the crowd seemed to enjoy the skating although most people expected someone to do the "loop" which was not even an option but unfortunately the crowd didn't understand that so many left disappointed. Omar Hassan handled all the obstacles equally well and took first place followed by Brian Patch and Jeff Williams who 50/50ed the rail switch!

In the Masters Bowl finals Steve Caballero dominated the contest with back to back tricks and the usual Cab style. Second went to Lance Mountain who tried the 540 that helped him win last year, but couldn't land it in his contest runs. Aaron Astorga was on fire today and finished 3rd with a solid run using the entire bowl.

Because of time, Young Guns qualifying was not run tonight and will be done tomorrow instead. Check back for Results from Young Guns and Ladies bowl tomorrow night.

Friday June 8th

Today was Masters Bowl qualifying. Leading the pack was Jake Piaseki qualifying 1st by working the corners with true pool skating style. In 2nd going into tomorrows finals was Sean Goff who flew here all the way from England just for this event, needless to say he is fired up! Qualifying 3rd was World Cup's own Aaron Astorga, who is also judging the rest of the weekend. Tomorrow is Masters finals and joining the top 7 from today are Lance Mountain (last years winner), Steve Caballero, Sasha Steinhorst and Richard Stiles all pre-qualified from previous events.

Check back tomorrow for results and also Young Guns Soul Bowl qualifying. The "Contour Park" will be taking place as well, but will be a best trick format on a couple obstacles in the park. My guess is the "loop" won't be used...
