||On Saturday July 27th, Apple opened yet another new store at the Grove in Los Angeles. As part of the Grand Opening activities, World Cup Skateboarding, along with Rune Glifberg and Eric Koston put on a skate demo on the top of the parking garage, overlooking Los Angeles. PointX built the ramps and WCS announcer Dave Duncan was there on the mic while the skating went on.
Tons of kids (and adults) came to watch the skate demo and get autographs. After the demo the crowd went inside the store where I gave a short presentation about what I do with Apple products. I showed a quick example of how to edit video in iMovie using the footage that I had captured minutes earlier at the demo. After a few questions from the audience I sat down and finished the short video and put it up on the site before we bolted for the airport to catch our flight home.
It was an incredible experience for me, having never really spoken in front of a crowd, but the fact that I was talking about Mac, I was relaxed and comfortable. The crowd was great and the Apple staff was really impressive and fun to work with.
We look forward to more events like this in the future.
