Story by Mike Sinclair
Room 1109 probably means nothing to the people that came to watch the 2nd stop of the Van's Triple Crown of Skateboarding held this past weekend in Cleveland, OH but every skater that competed this time knew what was going down in room 1109. C-Lo was the game going on, if you have never heard of this dice game the basic rules are as follows...three dice are rolled at one time, 1-2-3 is an automatic loss, 4-5-6 is an automatic win. Rolls that fall somewhere in the middle are a 3 or 4. If you are lucky enough to roll a triple on all three dice, your chances of winning are really high until the dreaded 4-5-6 is rolled on you. I got no more time to explain these rules to you but if you "put in" you'll learn fast at the next contest. You can't cheat in this game however if enough people are playing you can increase or decrease your bet if you got some slick skills. By the way you can't find this game in Vegas or any casino for that matter but it is very popular among crack heads and skateboarders. Mike Frazier likes to be the bank when he plays which means everyone that is playing is now trying to beat his one roll instead of the usual pot style that C-Lo is most popular for. I personally like for Frazier to bank because when I win I can celebrate by slapping Frazier in the face with all the loot I just won or sometimes I will leave him with a fresh $20.00 paper cut on the neck, which is always a great feeling you can't get from winning at a casino. Most of the time Frazier ends up winning since "big bank always beats little bank". Frazier ended up winning big after a few nights of being the bank at C-Lo, just to prove my point that "big bank beats little bank". It must be the Mountain Dew money that keep Frazier's pockets stacked but that's a different story. Out of nowhere during the last night of our C-Lo make shift casino, Mathias Ringstrom decided he would hit the ATM and try to break the bank. What Mathias doesn't know is that hittin' the ATM is a no-no when playing C-Lo. The rule book states "if you ain't got it, you ain't got it punk". Mathias is from Sweden so maybe the translation didn't go over so well. While Mathias was trying to come up with his ATM withdrawal still fresh on his mind, Frazier and a room full of others nickled and dimed his ass until he was thinking about heading back to the ATM once again. I took a break from throwin' dice for a minute while the Holyfield fight was going on. I was more concerned about the 4 head that turned into a 40 head from Holyfield's contender while Frazier and Mathias argued over who's roll was "suspect" for at least 30 minutes. All in all a "suspect" roll is usually BS but you gotta come to an agreement somewhere or the game is over. Most gamblers will triple their next bet to try and shut the person calling a "suspect" roll up immediately. As usual, it worked and Mathias wanted to roll his last $300.00 in one hand. Frazier, Bob Reynolds and myself all put down $100.00 each while trying our hardest to jinx Mathias' last roll. If you don't believe in jinxing someone just look at the photo's after this article. We all put a jinx on Mathias so hard for at least 10 minutes before he felt comfortable to roll again. Right before he rolled his final roll, he paused and told everyone he felt a lump in his neck. Frazier said, "Oh, you done messed up now meatball". Mathias ignored Frazier's comment but Mathias was not prepared for the 1-2-3 that he rolled for his last and final automatic loss. While Mathias stood in the room dead silent Frazier, Bob and I jumped around the room like we had just turned 14 while and Tony Hawk, Cab and Mountain just showed up at our birthday party with a donated vert ramp for us all while we saw the sneak preview of Animal Chin.
